The situation
Colon cancer screening moves through many hands and many systems -Turriano, MXX, the laboratory, pathological anatomy- each on its own timeline. Coordinating primary care and specialized care meant connecting all of it, without disrupting the tools clinicians already relied on. Every hospital ran its own instance. Every case needed to adjust based on results as they came in.
What changed
Bonita now orchestrates every milestone in the screening process. It tracks each patient's status, connects the systems already in place, and raises an alarm the moment a deadline is missed. Clinicians didn't have to learn new tools: the process now works across the ones they already use.
How it came together
SESCAM built a transverse process to integrate Primary Care and Specialized Care around one shared thread: the patient's screening journey. Working with Telefónica, the team connected clinical and epidemiological data into a single information system, with dashboards for patient status, indicators, and reporting — accessible by permission across roles.
